Ranil Wickremesinghe Takes Oath As Acting President:- Gotabaya Rajapaksa, the President of Sri Lanka fled from the country couple of days ago and he submitted his resignation through email last night. He submitted his resignation to the Speaker Mahinda Yapa Abeywardena. Sri Lanka has been battling badly in a financial crisis and the people lost their patience. They staged protests all over as they have been suffering to get the basic commodities. Ranil Wickremesinghe has been asked to take the oath as the interim President till the new President gets elected. The Speaker asked Ranil Wickremesinghe to take the oath. Ranil Wickremesinghe took the oath today and Former Minister Dullas Alahapperuma announced that he would contest for the role of the President.

The Parliament will call for nominations next week as per the update. Ranil Wickremesinghe decided to prohibit the use of word 'His Excellency' to address the President. After the Parliament convenes, the new President will get elected in a week. IMF is closely monitoring the developments in Sri Lanka told the official spokesperson Gerry Rice. The protestors occupied three main buildings in the capital Colombo which includes the President's house, Secretariat and the Prime Minister's official residence. They demanded the resignatoon of Gotabaya Rajapaksa. They vacated the President's house and the Prime Ministe's residence. The Speaker Mahinda Yapa Abeywardena urged the public to allow a peaceful procedure and environment to elect the new President of Sri Lanka.
