Microsoft's new Chief Executive Officer [CEO] who made bitter comments on women's pay scale, was paid US $84.3 million this year. Satya received $79.8m in stock with a basic salary of $919,000 and a bonus of $3.6m. He will also get stock worth US $59.2 million under the long-term performance based stock award in connection with his promotion to CEO the tech giant.
The salary details come less than two weeks after Satya said at a women conference that women employees should look at 'karma' rather than asking for hikes. This comments did not go well and later Satya personally apologised to the employees in a letter.
Meanwhile Microsoft has backed such huge package to Satya and added that, “CEO role is demanding, requiring mastery of complex, rapidly evolving business models and the ability to lead a highly technical organisation.”
