From going gaga over her culinary skills to rushing to her for every crisis, men who are tight on their moms are often labeled as bad boyfriend and husband material. But researchers have found that guys who are super close to their moms make ideal boyfriends and husbands. Here's why.

Arizona State University has found that men who are close to their mothers have stellar communication skills and higher levels of empathy. Reason? They have watched their mom over the years and observed and learned how a female behaves. Result, they are likely to resist masculine stereotypes - be more expressive and tuned to your needs in a relationship - believes experts.

On the flipside, knowing that your man is more connected to another woman (in this case, his mom) might grate your nerves. The cue is to not think much about it. However, if he overdoes his affection, you might have to set boundaries.

Also, no matter what, avoid labeling him as a "mama's boy." "No matter how in touch they are with their feelings, men still want to be men," says an expert. "A lot of guys know that they're a mama's boy...and it's already embarrassing enough for them."
