Love in the Age of SMS?

Just last day, I met a friend whose new girlfriend won't just stop 'texting' him updates about her day. A loving, caring girlfriend is good, but how do you handle a serial texter? Can torrent of texts translate into greater relationship bliss or can it topple your relationship for good? We find out.

Communication is indeed the key to a stronger relationship. All said, a torpedo of texts can actually affect the quality of a relationship. Instead of cementing greater bonds, it can prevent you from understanding your partner's feelings face-to-face.

“When it came to the number of messages, however, men who texted more often in general reported lower relationship quality than those who didn’t ping their significant others as frequently. The researchers can only speculate about why, but suspect that as men disconnect from a relationship, or consider a break-up, they replace face-to-face interactions with less intimate communication in the form of increased texting,” a study report reveals.

Women who texted more often, on the other hand, believed to forge quality connections with their mates than those who texted seldom. Women tend to text to apologize, work out  differences and make decisions, etc. As their chemistry and connection with their loved one waned, women attempted to make up or resolve via text, which according to the experts is a digital way of the need to “talk things out.”
