West Indies batsmen Chris Gayle has created history in the ICC Cricket World Cup 2015 by hitting first ever double century in the mega tournament. Gayle is also the first non-Indian batsmen to hit a double ton and he took 137 balls to score. West Indies in their third match in the World Cup elected to bat first against Zimbabwe. However, West Indies made a poor start as opener Smith was dismissed for a duck. Gayle and Samuels did not let the further damage to happen and counter attacked the Zimbabwe bowlers.

Gayle also broke many records in this match. In his innings he hit 16 sixes equaling the record of AB de Villiers and Rohit Sharma. Along with Samuels, Gayle established 372 runs partnership which is the highest in ODIs history for any wicket. Samuels in the meantime completed his eight ODI ton. However Chris Gayle was out on the last delivery of the match for 215 runs falling short of India's Virendra Sehwag's 219 against the West Indies.

It is tough task for Zimbabwe to chase the massive total and it will be an advantage for West Indies to increase the net run rate in the points table which could play a crucial role for the second round of the World Cup.
