Jayalalithaa denied bail

The Karnataka High Court has declined to grant bail for former Tamil Nadu chief minister and AIADMK leader Jayalalithaa. In the 1996 disproportionate assets case, Jayalalithaa along with her close aides were convicted and sentenced to four years in jail in 1996 disproportionate assets case and also slapped with Rs 100 crores fine on September 27th by a special court.

Noted lawyer Ram Jethmalani argued on behalf of Jayalalithaa and after hearing the arguments, the court declined to grant bail. Though the prosecution agreed to grant conditional bail on medical grounds, the court rejected the bail. The AIADMK party sources were seriously upset with decision.
