A bench of Karnataka High Court has postponed the bail petition of Jayalalithaa to October 6th which means there is no relief for the former chief minister of Tamil Nadu. Since the high court is on an extended vacation, a vacation bench had taken up the case for hearing on Tuesday and adjourned the hearing to Monday.
Jayalalithaa’s close aide Sasikala Natarajan, V.N. Sudhakaran and J. Illavarasi who were also convicted and sentenced in the connection with the disproportionate assets case have also sought bail. Unless the conviction is overturned by a higher court, Jayalalithaa will be barred from contesting elections for 10 years.
