Unofficial Power Cuts worrying Farmers in Telugu States:- With summer heat all over, the governments of Telugu states are struggling hard to manage power between the major fields. With soaring demand for power, the unofficial power cuts across the Telugu states started recently. The agriculture sector is shattered with the power cuts in Telugu states from the past one week. The top officials of TS Genco, TS Transco and Discoms attended a meeting with the officials of the Chief Minister's Office to discuss about sharing the power in the state. The consumption of electricity increased on a huge note and the unrestricted demand for power climbed to 14,160 mega watts. Officials are predicting that the number would reach 15,000 MW soon.
To beat the demand, the agriculture sector is targeted. The farmers are complaining that they are receiving only nine hours of power supply during the day from March 26th even after the government of Telangana promised 24*7 power supply for farmers. The farmers are now worried about losing the rabi crops and they are demanding at least 15 hours power supply to save the rabi crops in the state. Most of the farmers are depending on borewells for irrigation and power supply is mandatory. The paddy crops are sown in 35 lakh acres in the rabi season in Telangana. Paddy fields need lot amount of water and in summer, the requirement would be more. Same is the case in Andhra Pradesh and the farmers are complaining of power cuts in the state.
