Supreme Court makes strong statements on JEE and NEET examinations:- The Joint Entrance Examination (JEE) and the NEET medical entrance test for the admission into the IITs should be held as per the schedule informed the Supreme Court saying that the careers of the students cannot be kept on hold. The top court dismissed a petition that is filed by 11 students to defer the examinations because of the coronavirus pandemic. Both these examinations are scheduled to take place in September. Justice Arun Mishra heading the three-judge bench said that life cannot be stopped and we have to move with all the safeguards. Justice Arun Mishra said that it is not a right decision to waste one complete year of the students.
"COVID-19 may continue for one more year and will you wait for one more year for the students? It is not only a loss for the students, but it is also a loss for the whole country" said Justice Arun Mishra. Eleven students filed petitions and they wanted the examinations to be conducted only after normalcy returns. These students also wanted to increase the number of examination centres. The Supreme Court asked the respective authorities to conduct the examinations following all the social distancing guidelines. JEE is scheduled to take place from September 1st to 6th and NEET is scheduled to take place on September 13th.
