Locusts Threat For Telangana:- 2020 has been terrible for the mankind and they have been facing several problems. Coronavirus threat happens to be the biggest one and it has taken a huge toll on the economy all over the globe. The new scare for Telangana state is said to be through the locusts. The states of Maharashtra, Madhya Pradesh, Rajasthan, Punjab and Haryana have already been badly impacted and the crops, vegetables are spoiled badly. The Union Environment Ministry warned the state of Telangana over the threat through locusts. Rajasthan happened to be the most impacted state. Locusts are said to be the oldest migratory pests of the world as per the reports from the Food and Agriculture Organization (FAO). They can migrate to large distances in flocks. They are said to be the most dangerous species when it comes to spoiling the crops.
The locusts are now set to hit any time in Telangana which is the new threat for the state. They can fly up to 150 km per day and one square km of locusts can eat food that is consumed by 35,000 humans in a day. This year's attack in the country is said to be the biggest from the past 26 years. More than half of Rajasthan is badly impacted because of these locusts. After Maharashtra is badly impacted, the next impacted state is predicted to be Telangana. The state government is currently discussing about the measures to be taken to prevent this attack. As of now, the villages in Telangana are kept on high alert.
