Supreme Court Rejects Shelter Plea After Aurangabad Incident:- The Supreme Court today declined the Shelter Plea to transport the migrant workers that are stuck in the various states because of the imposed lockdown due to coronavirus. The bench which heard the plea said that they could not stop it and asked the states to take up action. The Supreme Court asked the states to solve the issue saying that the court cannot interfere with the newspaper clippings. Lawyer Alakh Alok Srivastava filed a petition after 16 migrant laborers got killed in Aurangabad after they slept on the railway track while they were on their way to their homes. The incident took place on May 8th.

The workers were walking to Madhya Pradesh from Maharashtra. With no public transport, most of the migrant workers started walking to their homes. After several requests, the Centre allowed arranging transport facilities through shramik trains. Still, after the special trains, lakhs of migrant workers are walking to their homes as the trains are not sufficient. The Supreme Court said that they are not ready to entertain such pleas and asked the states to be careful with the lives of the migrant workers.
