Telugu Mandatory in Telangana Schools:- The Government of Andhra Pradesh issued a notification to update all the government schools to English medium from the next academic year which created a stir. The opposition parties took a dig on the Chief Minister YS Jaganmohan Reddy for the call. On the other side, the government of Telangana has been strict on its stand and made Telugu mandatory in all the government schools till the fifth standard. The Telangana government already requested the Centre to implement the same across the private schools.

The Telangana Government even issued a GO couple of years ago making Telugu subject mandatory in all the schools across the state till the tenth standard. The Government of Telangana also introduced English medium schools across the state selectively. Out of the 26,000 schools available in the state, 4800 schools are converted into English medium schools from 2017-18. The government always supported all the plans that promoted Telugu. During the recent round table conference, Telangana minister Sabitha Indrareddy attended and revealed the state's move of educating the children till the fifth class in Telugu medium.
