Telangana RTA Concerns Over Safety Of Children:- Summer vacations come to an end, School resumed their classes. Most of the Telangana Schools were reopened on Monday. Now the worry is about the fitness of the transport buses used for school transportation. Children rely only on school transportation and most of the buses don’t follow proper guidelines of RTA. In the new academic year Schools have raised their transportation fee along with many others. Parents raised their concerns and Telangana Road Transport Authorities (RTA) are in action.

RTA without issuing any notices to schools conducted raids on the school buses. Approximately 25,000 school buses are operational in Hyderabad, Ranga Reddy and Medchal Malkajgiri districts. Sadly only 30 per cent of the buses have undergone fitness tests. School managements were asked to provide fitness test certificates for all their transport vehicles in a week.

General Secretary of Telangana Auto and Motor Welfare Union, M Dayanand said 70 per cent of the buses have not undergone the fitness test. Every year the vehicle owners and also the school management need to undergo fitness tests for their vehicles. However, this turned into a formality. If RTA seizes vehicles, again there will be inconvenience caused for children. So RTA has provided time for the management and asked to provide certificates by the end of this week.

School transportation buses have a code to follow like the bus’s colour, insignia dimensions, emergency exits, entry steps, service doors, interior protection, storage, first-aid box, seating layout and dimensions, partition design, stop signal sign, flashlights and emergency doors. Buses need to follow these codes to get the certificate.
