Ration Portability: Andhra Pradesh, Telangana Agree on 'One Nation - One Card' Scheme:- Owing to the widespread practice in the interstate migration between Andhra Pradesh and Telangana, most of working-class and poor families which migrate outside State are being deprived of their ration provided under the Public Distribution System (PDS).

Setting aside such a situation, the State government has taken up efforts to make sure that people from Andhra Pradesh who moved to Telangana get their monthly ration on their PDS cards from the place where they relocated to as per the orders from Chief Minister YS Jagan Mohan Reddy.

The same is applicable to those from Telangana who migrated to Andhra Pradesh for various reasons and eligible for ration from the PDS system.

This portability system will come into effect from August 1 with Center also giving a nod for the assistive move. Both the governments have inked an agreement to this effect already in fulfillment of Food Security Law, 2013.

Telangana state Hyderabad records the highest number of beneficiaries in portability which accounts for 42 Lakhs. There are about 56 Lakh families with ration card in Telangana and about 2.82 crore beneficiaries are benefited with ration anywhere.
