GHMC's Demolition Drive: 47 Structures Pulled Down:- The Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation (GHMC) is not in a mood to take any chances before the monsoon season in Hyderabad. A massive drive has been initiated to demolish old structures in the city. GHMC demolished 47 structures in various parts of the city on Monday alone. 15 structures have been in Kukatpally zone, 12 from Khairatabad and 8 from Secunderabad zone. Six of them have been demolished from Serlingampally zone and three have been pulled from Charminar and LB Nagar zones each.

Municipal Administration and Urban Development (MAUD) Minister KT Rama Rao issued strict orders to senior officials during a review meeting on June 12th. An action plan has been taken to identify the dangerous structures in the city and a proposal for their demolishment has been submitted. Out of the 1194 buildings, 413 have been demolished. GHMC even deployed teams for road repairs and for dewatering low lying areas.
