One Lakh 2BHKs In Hyd By Dasara Next Year : KTR:- Telangana IT Minister KT Rama Rao made some remarkable comments at the ground breaking ceremony for a 2BHK colony in Hyderabad city on Thursday.
KTR said house warming ceremonies would be organized by the government for one lakh 2BHK flats in the city by Dasara festival next year. The construction would be started by the government on Diwali. Mr Rama Rao said the government was developing the city with projects worth Rs 20,000 crore. He laid the foundation stone for 6,264 2BHK houses. The 2BHK houses are to be built at an estimated cost of Rs 549 crore near Rampally in Medchal Malkajgiri district.

“For a slum-free city, the government has identified the need to construct 10,000 houses. The target is to construct 2.65 lakh 2BHK houses in the city at a cost of Rs 18,000 crore. If people from 1,400 slums volunteer, the government will construct houses for them at the same locations,” he said.
Without the involvement of political leaders, the beneficiaries were being selected in a transparent manner, said KTR. “We are repeatedly telling the people not to fall in the trap of conmen and middlemen.” he said. Those who had not applied earlier would get a chance to apply for the 2 BHK houses, he said. The government will provide 2BHKs beside the Infosys campus and near the Singapore Township, he said. Also, at an estimated cost of Rs 1,665 crore, the government had taken up beautification of the Musi, said KTR.
Later, Mr Rama Rao during a review meeting of work in the Malkajgiri Parliamentary constituency said Malkajgiri would get about 40,000 2BHK houses. “Our focus is to provide flats and houses near the present location of beneficiaries. Previous governments used to allocate houses with two small rooms that were for a family, on the city outskirts,” he said.
Cantonment MLA G. Sayanna was also promised by the Minister that the Metro Water Board would provide water to the Secunderabad Cantonment area.
The Minister was briefed by officials from various departments on the progress of work on the 2BHK scheme, roads, water works, SRDP and other projects.
GHMC commissioner B. Janardhan Reddy in a press release said “We expect to construct 196 2BHK houses in Singam Cheruvu Tanda near Nacharam and 2BHK houses at Erukala Nancharamma Basti in Mansurabad by Diwali,” he said.
