The Chief of Karnataka Police Mahasangha, Shashidhar Venugopal, has filed a complaint against the State CM, Siddaramaiah and 27 other ministers with the Karnataka Lokayukta, today.

Venugopal had approached the Lokayukta, against Siddaramaiah, and 27 ministers of his cabinet, over the transfer of police officers in the state. The Police Chief alleged that, corruption in large scale took place, in the police officials transfer, on New Year eve.

In the previous year, around 41 Indian Police Service (IPS) officers were transferred in a major reshuffle of the police force in Karnataka on December 31. Venugopal, besides Siddaramaiah and his cabinet ministers, has also named 21 police officials in his complaint. The police officials paid money to the ministers, for favorable transfers and appointments, alleged Venugopal. The Karnataka Police Chief further urged the Lokayukta, to launch an investigation against all the names, in his complaint.

As per the earlier reports, the Karnataka CM, had tried to bring a mix of old and new police officers in Bengaluru, and other places, keeping in view of the 2018-Assembly elections.  The then police commissioner of Bengaluru city, N. S Megharik, was among the police officials transferred. He is now serving as the Chief of the Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB).
