UP Govt Shunts Out State Police Chief; Transfers 12 Police Officers

The Uttar Pradesh (UP) Government, led by Yogi Adityanath, has shunted out the State Police Chief Javeed Ahmed, yesterday, along with 12 IPS officers, who were transferred in the first big reshuffle in the top police hierarchy.
Javeed Ahmed will be replaced by Sulkan Singh, a 1980-batch IPS officer, who was the Deputy General (DG) training. He will now take the charge in place of Ahmed. Meanwhile, Ahmed has been shifted as the DG of Uttar Pradesh Provincial Armed Constabulary (PAC), said a senior home department official in state capital Lucknow.
The move comes a month after Adityanath assumed office. The Additional Director General of police (ADG) (law and order) Daljit Singh Chowdhury and ADG economic offence wing (EOW) and logistics Aditya Mishra have exchanges places in the transfer. The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), during the recent assembly polls, had made a plea to the Election Commission (EC) to remove Ahmed, alleging that he was working at the instructions of the former Samajwadi party government. DG (intelligence) Jawahar Lal Tripathi has been given the post of DG (prosecution) and DG (homeguards) Alok Prasad has been given additional charge of training. Earlier, Surya Kumar was in charge of DG prosecution, who will now continue as DG police recruitment and promotion board.
The ADG (security) Bhavesh Kumar Singh has been relieved and has been given the charged of ADG (intelligence). ADG police training school Sitapur Vijay Kumar has been made ADG (security) while Alok Singh, who was on the wait list has been made Inspector General (IG) PAC (eastern zone). IG Sanjay Singhal has been made IG, PAC central zone. IG women power line Navneet Sikera has been relieved from the charge of PAC central zone but will continue on other posts.
