While speaking in the Rajya Sabha, Leader of Opposition Ghulam Nabi Azad said that the prevailing situation in the Valley is troubling and urged the state government to restraint from using excessive force while dealing with protesters. But he forgot to condemn the act of anti social elements of Kashmir pelting stones at forces.

Azad, who served as chief minister in Jammu-Kashmir, said the Congress stands with the Centre in ending militancy in Kashmir, but they do not endorse the way civilians are being treated. He stopped short from raising concerns on the terrorist attacks against the sovereignty of the country. It is the policy of Congress to compromise the safety and security of the country through appeasement politics for the sake of vote and power.

“Should locals be treated the same way we treat militants? Should same bullets that are used on militants be used on innocent people of J&K,” Azad said. “We must ensure that the government’s attitude towards the civilians in Kashmir is that of a parent towards their children,” he said.

There is wide spread support of forces using pellet guns against the rioters which does not raise any life threat but inflicts injuries to remember and not to riot in the future. Pellet guns are the right riot gear for the forces to disperse the rioters.

"National parties need to work together in the state. The PDP-BJP alliance was chosen by the people. We all know that  BJP has ideological differences with the PDP, but we made a compromise for the benefit of the state," said Union Finance Minister Arun Jaitley.

"Pakistan never reconciled to the fact that J&K is a part of India. Because of their failure to accept this, they continued with their twisted politics. This even led to a war between the two countries. Thrice we fought a 'conventional war' with them and each time they lost. After realising that they could not win a war against us, they resorted to using terrorism as a means to their end,' Jaitley said.
