Facebook, the real turn around in every human being's life. Over the past few years we have seen people getting friends through social networking sites and eventually end up marrying each other. But have you ever heard of a girl who lived life in a luxury way and finally gets settled in rural part of India. An 41 year old American woman, Adriana Peral has gave away her luxury life and Californian lifestyle to become a traditional housewife in rural India.

Going into the details, Adriana Peral became friends with Mukesh Kumar who is 16 years younger, through Facebook. Both were good friends until one day when Mukesh called her up and proposed her. Initially Adriana thought Mukesh was joking but after talking to each other for several times, she realized that he was serious. Adriana thought a lot about Mukesh's proposal and finally accepted his love.

Adriana spoke to her family that she wants to marry Mukesh and move to India. Adriana has many past relations and a daughter too. She consulted all the family members and friends before leaving US but was disheartened to leave her daughter behind for the sake of Mukesh. Both got married in November 2013 in a traditional Hindu ceremony, which made headlines in India's national Hindi language media.

Describing her new life Adriana said, “When I first stepped off the plane it was a complete culture shock. It is stricter here - women have to cover up more. In Haryana many people live off the land, there are few basic amenities. We cook on a stove which is outside, and my living room doubles as the place where we store the cows at night. We sometimes use the bull and cart to ride around, and the toilet is a communal one. The shower is just a bucket in a closet sized room with a hole in the floor. If people back home could see where I am living they would think I am crazy. At first it was a real struggle, but soon you realize you don't need a fancy toilet or power shower to be happy.”

Mukesh and her mother Bimla Devi are quite happy with Adriana doing all the house hold work. Mukesh said, “Adriana is just perfect for me. She does all the household work and asks my mom to take rest and she would take care of the everything.” Mukesh mother Bimla says, “am happy my son married a foreigner. She respects me. If he had married a girl from our village, she would probably not have respected me as much as Adriana does.”
