Andhra Pradesh Chief minister N Chandrababu Naidu on Friday inaugurated a 1,839-flat housing complex built under the Jawaharlal Nehru Urban Renewal Scheme (JNNURM) at Parawada on Friday and named it as ‘Basavatharakam Colony’.
The government has spent around Rs 50 crore for the project. Around Rs 36 crore was spent on the construction of all the houses (G+3), while it took another Rs 14 crore to ground the other facilities, Naidu said.
The housing complex includes underground drainage facility, drinking water facility, community hall, water treatment plant, library, Anganwadi centre and etc.
“The construction of park is pending, while the streetlights and power supply are almost in the stage of completion,” he said.
The chief minister also said that “would sort out the issues of government lands at Simhachalam, Gajuwaka, and in a few other areas, and steps would be taken to give pattas to the around 55,000 to 60,000 beneficiaries soon. More JNNURM houses are being constructed at Madhurwada and in two more areas in Vizag, for which government is spending around Rs 13 crore.”
Coming down heavily on the opposition parties over their ctiricism on the special category state issue, Chandrababu Naidu on Friday said at a public meeting at Parawada that “was not afraid of anybody. Being a person with discipline, I do not have to fear anybody”.
Naidu took potshots at the YSR Congress chief YS Jagan Mohan Reddy, the chief minister slammed certain media houses owned by a few political leaders.
“The political leaders through such media organisations are spreading false propaganda against the government to get mileage,” he said.
Naidu also came down heavily on Jagan’s comments on the ‘English’ jibe.
He accused the Congress and YSRC of misguiding people, thereby creating roadblocks for developmental activities in the state.
“We (the state government) are committed to make Andhra Pradesh to the list of top three states of the country by 2022. We are not here to respond on anybody comments. People should understand what the ground realities are,” he added.
