Kapus community reservation movement took a violent turn yesterday, after the agitators set fire to the Ratnachal Express and two police stations including the Tuni Rural Police Station.
Not stopping there, the attackers even attacked and beat up policemen in the area, after the Kapu Garjana meet.
Mostly in Visakhapatnam and Vijayawada, several trains were stopped. Around 25 trains across the state could not move, causing inconvenience to the passengers.
There was a high tension in the town, after the protestors called for ‘Rail Roko’ and road blockades in Tuni.
Listing out the damages took place, Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister Chandrababu Naidu said that, the agitators set on fire, two police stations, 25 vehicles and a train.
After knowing that the train is going to be fired by agitators, the train driver put off the power and that actually saved many lives, Naidu further said.
He said that around 17 policemen, including a deputy superintendent of police, inspectors and sub inspectors were injured. “The condition of one of the injured CIs and a constable is critical,” CM said.
Seven passengers in the Ratnachal Express were also injured. So far no deaths have been reported. “Media personnel and five railway officials were also attacked,” Naidu added.
Naidu further blamed YSR congress party for the incident. “The people of East Godavari and Kapus have never done this kind of criminal acts in the past. Some persons with criminal backgrounds did this. The YSRC leaders are expanding the Pulivendula mark of rowdism to other parts of the state,” he said.
Tough deal for Pawan Kalyan to convince Kapu community!
On the other hand, as a a shocker, there was a news from Janasena office that, Pawan Kalyan would come forward and react on the issue today. Pawan Kalyan hailing from Kapu community has a huge fan base following in Kapu community.
But the actor turned politician several times said that, he is away from being identified as Kapu community member. He strongly condemned the caste politics. In that case, Pawan is expected to react against the Kapu reservation and that is going to turn more viral and criticisms are expected to increase on Pawan, with his act today.
Unless, he balances the situation very carefully, there are every chances for Pawan to face criticism today. His reaction today, would show a greater impact on his political career too. So it should be seen, how Pawan convinces the Kapu community.
As per the promise made by the AP government during the elections, it is reportedly making all the arrangements to include Kapus in OBCs. But before that, an unfortunate incident like this is worrying it and so is expected to speed up its operations now.
