While HCU student suicide issue is going viral in Hyderabad, a video of the student released recently is creating fresh controversies.
It is known that, Rohith Vemula, a 26 year old 2nd year, PHD student, had committed suicide on Sunday evening. The present video shows Rohith engaging in a verbal war with ABVP students and the video was allegedly got leaked.
In the video, Rohith was having a heated discussion and as a part of such discussion, he even accepted that he tore the ABVP banner inside the campus. A Dalit student from Guntur, Rohith was suspended over a dispute.
On Jan 17th evening, Rohith had hanged himself, which boosted the protests across the country.
Even union minister Dattatreya had written a letter to the HRD ministry in August, accusing the university of being 'a mute spectator' after a group of Dalit students, including Rohith, clashed with an ABVP leaders.
This in turn led to an FIR being filed against BJP MP and Dattatreya under the SC/ST Act and on charges of abetment to suicide.
The leakage of the video now is creating a major controversy. Especially the timing of the video leakage is now being pointed out by Rohit’s close circles.
