Terror attack on Dinanagar police station

Three to four attackers, dressed in army uniforms came in a white Maruti car, which was  hijacked from the Old Pathankot-Gurdaspur road, opened fire at the police station around 5.30am. The incident took place around 11km away from Gurdaspur city, close to the India-Pakistan border and 80km away from Amritsar.

Before they attacked the police station, the terrorists opened fire at a Jammu-bound Punjab Roadways bus, in which four passengers died and several people have been injured.

Five live bombs were also found on a railway track near the Dinanagar police station, pointing to a well-planned attack intended to cause maximum damage, the police said.

The terrorists drove up to the police station in a white Maruti car and opened fire, killing the policeman on guard duty and stormed inside the police station and killed another policeman.

The Army is rushed to the Dinanagar to reinforce the police. The elite National Security Guard or NSG is put on standby. Union Home Minister Rajnath Singh said that he had instructed the Border Security Force or BSF to 'step up vigil on the India-Pakistan border in the wake of attack in Gurudaspur.

The terrorists, are still holed up inside the Dinanagar police station and have been exchanging fire with security forces. Some reports said that there could be more than four terrorists.
