While the entire country was speculating over Rahul Gandhi's whereabouts during his 56-day sabbatical, reports on Friday said the Prime Minister's Office knew about his location.

The PMO was regularly updated about Congress vice president's locations.

Surprisingly, even the Home Ministry wasn't kept in the loop and no information about Rahul was forwarded to it.

While speaking to DNA, a top official said that the government was only interested in the security aspect and regularly updated Thai Intelligence agencies.

When the official was asked whether Rahul visited other countries, the official refused to reveal anything, saying it would be a breach of an individual's privacy.

SPG had also informed PMO on Rahul's return from Bangkok to New Delhi 24 hours in advance.

The Congress vice president, who was out of the public eye for nearly two months, was back on Thursday.

Rahul Gandhi, 44, out of sight since the Budget Session of Parliament began on February 23, returned after 56 days amid intense speculation regarding his whereabouts.

He landed at the Indira Gandhi International Airport at 10.45 am on Thai Airways flight TG 323 from Bangkok, a source at the airport authority said.

Rahul, who had been on leave since February 16, is likely to address a mega Kisaan Mazdoor rally in the national capital on April 19.

His whereabouts were a matter of much speculation and it is still not known where he spent his holidays.

The Congress Party, however, had maintained that the 44-year-old is on introspection with an aim to strengthen the organisation.
