Family of Devyani Khobragade posted the copy of the page in the diary of Sangita Richard that reads that Devyani family members were very nice people and Devyani treater her like a member of her family.
The diary says that Sangita Richard given a separate room to dwell. Devyani’s children, Richard wrote, called her aunty. She also wrote in her diary that she had all the freedom in the house and she never felt that she was a working woman in that house. She also acknowledged the woman who got her the job in the house of Devyani.
Sangita Richard worked only for nine months till June 2013 as a domestic help to Devyani Khobragade, the Indian Deputy Consul General working at US. Later she absconded from the house of Devyani.
Devyani was arrested on December 12 on the charges levied by the US Federal Court that her domestic help Sangita Richard was not paid salary as per the minimum wages according to the US labor laws making the declarations at the time of getting A-3 Visa for Richard and also she was forced to work for 90 hours per week.
Indian Government stated on the issue of the payment made to the domestic help that Devyani is Indian Employee and her help has to be paid according to the Indian laws but not US laws.
