Surveillance to eliminate middlemen

Surveillance Cameras are installed at some of the Railway reservations and booking offices by South Central Railways to keep an eye on the movements of the agents and middlemen in there.

Usually touts and agents approach the passengers waiting there.  Their movements can be watched through the surveillance cameras which will be connected to higher officials via Railnet.  An IP address will be assigned to each camera to facilitate it.

Divisional Railway Manager and Senior Divisional Commercial Manager also can monitor the working at the reservation counters.  Video recording and image storage facilities are also provided for future viewing or references.

The cameras costing Rs.30000/- each are already installed in the first phase at Secunderabad, Vijayawada, Guntur, Nanded and Guntakal stations.  The same type of installations will be done at Hyderabad, Kacheguda, Kakinada, Rajahmundry, Kurnool, Mahaboobnagar, Aurangabad, Tirupati, Kadapa and Renigunta staions also in the second phase.
