As part of the Disaster Recovery drill on reservation system of Railways, the main server at Chennai will be closed tomorrow.
South Central Railways CPRO K.Sambasiva Rao announced by press note on 15th November that the railway services related to reservations cannot be accessed through net during the period from 3.00 pm to 10 pm on Sunday. The services will be affected in the zones of South Central, South Western and Southern Railways.
As the reservation system will be down during the period, cancellations also pose a problem for the commuters to address which special counters will be opened at all major railway stations. Cancellation (excluding e tickets), manual bookings, enquiries and reservation charts also will be made available at the railway stations.
The press release says, “The shutdown will make many front line services such as advance reservation of tickets, current day booking, cancellation of tickets, refunds, E-ticketing o¬n IRCTC web-site, reservation charting, enquiry services including enquiry o¬n Phone No. 139 and Passenger Operated Enquiry Terminals (POET) etc., non functional during the above period”.
