Baireddy wants referendum

Baireddy Rajashekara Reddy, who has been supporting the demand of Rayalaseema state came into the picture once again. Mr Baireddy has said that Centre, before bifurcating the state, should think and trifurcate it so that Rayalaseema region is formed into a state. There has been a demand from Rayalaseema region too that it should formed into a state since the region had been allegedly deprived of water and other resources. It was also presumably an underdeveloped region.

Baireddy, who demanded Rayalaseema state, urged the Centre to conduct referendum in Rayalaseema region in order to know the wishes of the people from this region. People who have been supporting Rayalaseema region reportedly argue that when Andhra state was merged with erstwhile Hyderabad, the capital was shifted from Kurnool to Hyderabad. It is known that Kurnool was the capital of Andhra State while Hyderabad was a different state until it was merged on November 1, 1956. One has to wait and see how the centre is going to react on this.
