3 ex-MPs who attended first parliament to be felicitated

The Parliament of India completes 60 years on May 13, 2012. The Government of India has decided to felicitate all the surviving former MPs who attended the first parliament. Vizianagaram former MP Kandala Subramanyam alias Tilak, who is 92-year-old, is one among the three surviving former MPs. And the three surviving ex-MPs would be felicitated next Sunday in Delhi. Special programmes are also conducted on the same day.

Initially, government thought only two former MPs of first parliament were present, however, a Telugu association took it to the notice of the speaker Meira Kumar. On getting the information that Kandala was alive, Meira Kumar has sent the felicitation invitation to him immediately. The other two former MPs who would be felicitated include 91-yaer-old Rishang and 87-year-old Resham.       (Phani)
