The Jagati Publications vice-chairman, Vijayasai Reddy (who is also an accused in Jagan disproportionate case) has filed a petition with the CBI special court in Nampally of Hyderabad challenging the freezing of accounts of Sakshi media group.
Vijayasai Reddy has arrived at the court along with his lawyer on Wednesday morning. The counsel of Vijayasai Reddy who moved the petition in the court today has made a point that nearly 20,000 employees are directly and indirectly dependent on Sakshi media group and their future would go for a toll in case the decision is not revoked.
It may be recalled that the CBI court summoned YS Jaganmohan Reddy to appear before the court on May 28 as ‘accused appearance’ in connection with his illegal assets case. Subsequently, the accounts of his Sakhi media group were frozen by the CBI sleuths.
Meanwhile, several journalist associations have condemned this act and staged protests. Jagan, on the otherhand, has termed this incident as the daylight murder of democracy. He has, however, assured the employees that he would not close down Sakshi newspaper and news channel.(Phani)
