Azad & Vayalar try to convince suspended MPs

The Centre, which faced ire and criticism from many sections of people and political parties, for suspending eight MPs from Telangana region, seems have introspected as the two big personalities from AICC—Gulam Nabi Azad and Vayalar Ravi— who have been looking into AP state affairs came out with interesting statements.

The leaders reportedly clarified to the MPs that the Congress was not against Telangana and it didn’t take any decision on Telangana. They have also said that they would try to lift the suspension if MPs promise to support them. However, MPs presumably said they would continue to protest till Telangana state is carved out.

It has to be mentioned here that the two top leaders were discussing with MPs last night at Gulam Nabi Azad’s office. Even Rajya Sabha member Keshava Rao also took part in the meet.  Meanwhile, Vayalar Ravi briefed the media about the meet. The decision on formation of Telangana state has to be taken at high level and it was not in his hand, clarified Vayalar Ravi.  He has also said that he would not comment anything on the suspension as the members were suspended by the Parliament.

The leaders earlier said that they would not stop their protest at any cost. They said they would raise slogans in support of the state on Monday too. If that really happens, then what would the Congress high command do? Will it ask the Parliament to suspend the MPs forever or expel them from the Congress party?  (Phani)
