Congress party so far has not elected its Legislature Party [CLP] leader and this process is scheduled to be done today in Gandhi Bhavan. Congress has won 20 Assembly seats in the recent elections and many senior leaders are heard to be doing hectic lobbying for the CLP post. Former ministers Jana Reddy, Uttam Kumar Reddy, Geetha Reddy are the front runners.
There is a severe competition and leaders of a community are demanding the CLP. Rajya Sabha MP Palvai Govardhan Reddy demanded CLP seat to his community and said, “as Telangana PCC post was given to a BC leader, we request high command to allot the CLP seat to our community. Out of the 20 seats won, 13 leaders belong to our community which shows that the people of this group are with the Congress party. If Telangana PCC was also given to one of our leader probably results would have different.”
Former Home Minister Jana Reddy who was upset for not getting T-PCC post, is lobbying for the CLP post. In the course of next five years, this could eventually make him the front runners for the Chief Ministerial post in 2019 elections. While another ex-minister Geetha Reddy is too playing the card of community and representation of woman.
Congress Working Committee [CWC] observers Digvijay Singh and Vayalar Ravi will be taking part in the selection of CLP leader as the high command sensed that leaders would fight for the post.
