Congress leader suspended for Swachh Bharat

The Indian National Congress party has expelled a leader who took part in 'Swachh Bharat' campaign which has been a promotional activity of the ruling BJP government.  The veteran leader and former Union minister Ram Lal Rahi has been suspended for six years on charges of anti-party activities and issued served showcause notice to former AICC secretary K K Sharma for calling Raj Babbar ‘a dancer’ and questioning Rahul Gandhi for fielding him in Lok Sabha polls from Ghaziabad which was won by BJP candidate.

The Congress party has sent a warning to its leaders that indiscipline will not be tolerated at any cost and all the leaders should abide by the High Command’s decision.  Before expelling Ram Lal Rahi from the party, Congress asked for an explanation and not satisfied by the reply, he was suspended. Rahi is a four time MP for Congress from Mishrikh Lok Sabha constituency, had participated in ‘Swachh Bharat Abhiyan’ on December 19 in Sitapur. The local leaders were reportedly not happy with this and former union minister Jitin Prasad reported that Rahi is involving in anti-party activities.

Earlier, Congress did the same to Shashi Tharoor who has praised Prime Minister Narendra Modi for nominating him in ‘Swachh Bharat’ campaign and also in some vital issues.
