The relations between TDP president Chandrababu Naidu and his brother-in-law and Rajya Sabha member Hari Krishna dropped down to the lowest ebb today as both of them indulged in war of words against each other over party affairs.
While Hari Krishna, simmering with anger and discontent over selection of party candidates for Rajya Sabha, declared that TDP belonged to the Nandamuri family and said the party has landed itself in trouble because of bad leadership, Chandrababu reacted to the rhetoric saying family is different from party.
For both, the occasion was the same. Hari Krishna spoke to media persons in Delhi on the occasion of the TDP’s 30th foundation day. Naidu responded to his remarks while participating in a function marking the occasion in Hyderabad.
Observing that TDP has been facing problems handicapped by the absence of proper leadership, Hari Krishna called upon the party cadre to come forward to rescue the party founded by the late legendary actor NTR.
Hari Krishna alleged that some TDP leaders have contacts with Congress leaders and have been indulging in businesses. “Party workers should question such activities and save the party,” he said, asking party activists not to lose their confidence.
To a question, he said that his son and actor junior NTR has not matured enough and will make entry into politics at the appropriate time.
For his part, Chandrababu Naidu said all leaders are equal in the party and observed family affairs should not be linked up with party affairs. “We may dine together as a family but in the party affairs everyone has to obey the party discipline,” Naidu said in response to Hari Krishna’s attack.
Naidu cut a big cake in the TDLP office on the occasion of his party completing 30 years.
Speaking on the Telangana issue, Naidu said it is very delicate issue for the party leadership and the party has been treading a cautious path on it. “However, it is the Congress party which should take a decision on the issue,” he said.
