No alliance with Jagan party: CPI

CPI state secretary Mr Narayana said today his party would never have any sort of electoral alliance with the YSR Congress party led by YS Jaganmohan Reddy.

“We won’t consider a party led by a person who has not only inherited the illegal wealth of his father but also claimed the legacy of his father’s Chief Ministership,” Narayana told media persons in Hyderabad on Sunday.

Narayana said his party would take a decision on contesting or supporting candidates in the forthcoming by-elections only after discussing the issue in the party conference. “We had seat adjustments with the TDP in 2009 and having seat adjustments with it in 2014 elections is not ruled out,” he said.

Claiming CPI would continue to fight against corruption, Narayana said suspended IAS officer Y. Srilakshmi could have gone to the Centre if she had discharged her duties promptly without fear or favour. “She has been suffering in jail for her mistakes,” Narayana observed.

Referring to the allegations CPI has collected money from the liquor syndicates, he said they have collected donations from wine shops as they used to collect from any other shop. “Specifically, we had not collected from liquor syndicates,” he said. (JUBS)
