T employees likely to strike work again

The JAC leaders of the Telangana Employees’ Unions have decided to chalk out their action plan after Sankranthi festival seeking the government to implement the promises made to them during their Sakala Janula Samme (All people’s strike last year).

The JAC leaders’ decision comes in the wake of the Telangana political JAC’s announcement that it would revive the Telangana agitation after the festival. TRS chief KCR also said he would hold discussions with the pro-Telangana groups and JAC leaders after the festival on continuing the agitation.

It may be recalled that the Government employees of the Telangana region resorted to the all people’s strike from Sep 13 to Oct 24 last year as part of the Telangana agitation. Following an agreement between the government and the JAC, the Telangana employees withdrew their agitation on Oct 24.

In the agreement reached with the employees, the Government promised to consider the strike period as paid holidays subject to AP high court orders, appoint a commission under the chairmanship of a retired high court judge to implement the orders of the President on zonal system, examine the cancellation of the GO number 177 on ‘no work no pay rule’ after discussions with the Advocate General and also to cancel the deputations and transfers affected during the strike period.

JAC leaders, however, said the government has not initiated action at least on one of the promises made in the agreement. “We have to seek the implementation of the promises made in the agreement and we have to chalk out an action plan for this,” said JAC leaders.

Because of the non implementation of the agreement, the employees have lost most of the benefits. “Still, two hundred cases are pending against the employee leaders and charge sheets have also been filed in some of the cases,” said JAC leaders.

“We are likely to go on strike again to get these promises made in the agreement fulfilled,” said JAC leaders Swami Goud, Srinivasa Goud and Devi Prasada Rao. (JUBS)
