Dasari mulling revival of Udayam daily

Veteran Tollywood director and former union Minister Mr Dasari Narayana rao has reportedly decided to revive his media tool Udayam once again to have his foothold in the state politics and also among his Kapu community people.

Dasari, who has had a sort of sabbatical from politics following the mega star Chiranjeevi-led PRP merger with the congress party, has waited all these days to make his moves and is of the view that time is now ripe for him to re-launch his Udayam daily which once offered a mega competition to the Eenadu daily.

It may be noted that a cold war has been running unabated for several years between Dasari and Chiranjeevi, though both of them belong to the Kapu community. Dasari has not taken it well to the PRP merger with the congress party and has kept off the congress politics for a long time.

Dasari, who once successfully run the daily Udayam, is very much worried that the Kapu community in the state doesn’t have a daily of its own though the other dominant communities such as Kammas and Reddys have Eenadu and Sakshi respectively to protect their interests.

Chiranjeevi seems to be unhappy in the congress party with no one in the APCC paying heed to his demands. One day ahead of the voting on the TDP’s no-confidence motion, Chiru also expressed his unhappiness with the treatment being meted out to him and his MLAs by the congress leadership. Chiru’s statement forced a worried Union Minister Ghulam Nabi Azad make phone calls to him twice to console him.

Dasari has smelt that Chiru is being treated as a no-body in the congress and it is the right time for him to strike with a big bang and get his place in the party again.

The mega star, who never looked adventurous in politics except for his merger decision, had seemingly dropped his plan of launching his TV channel after the retired IAS officer Mr KS Sarma refused to join as the CEO. There is a growing feeling that even the Kapu community people also have stopped looking at the actor as their messiah.

Dasari feels he can make a comeback with his Udayam and gain his lost foothold again among his community people and also in the state politics, especially in the congress sphere. Once Dasari launches his Udayam, Congress will look towards him as it needs media support.

The talk of Udayam being revived, being heard on and off till now, may be a matter of gossip but this time it will turn out to be real. (JUBS)
