Veteran freedom fighter Mr Konda Lakshman Bapuji led a Padayatra in Delhi today along with his supporters seeking the formation of Telangana state.
Bapuji began his Padayatra from India Gate and ended it at the Parliament House and later handed over a memorandum to the Lok Sabha Speaker Ms. Meira Kumar asking the government to stick to the announcement of Dec 9, 2009 and form the Telangana state.
He appealed to the Speaker to direct the Government to introduce the Telangana bill in the present session of Parliament.
Telangana region congress members Mr Ponnam Prabhakar, Manda Jagannadham, Vivek, Rajaiah, Komatireddy Rajagopal reddy and Keshava Rao and TDP members of the T region Gundu Sudha Rani and Errabilli Dayakara Rao and others accompanied Konda Lakshman Bapuji in the Padayatra.
T Rajaiah and S Satyanarayana meet Speaker
Station Ghanpur MLA T Rajaiah and Ramagundam independent MLA Mr S Satyanarayana met the Speaker Nadendla Manohar on their resignations.
Satyanarayana has requested the Speaker not to accept his resignation. He said there was no need for him to resign as he was an independent MLA. Rajaiah said he has informed of his decision to the Speaker to quit on the Telangana issue.
While Satyanarayana is attached to the congress party, Rajaiah was elected on the congress ticket. Both of them resigned from the Congress party and joined the TRS recently. (JUBS)
