TDP chief and former chief minister Mr N. Chandrababu Naidu began his 22-day Rytu Poru Yatra from CC Kotha Kota in Ananthapuram district this morning.
On the first day of the Yatra, Naidu, accompanied by hundreds of party workers, visited the dried up groundnut crops and talked to the farmers. Party sources said Naidu will cover 17 km today visiting many villages, talking to farmers and examining the crops.
Naidu will continue his yatra through several villages of the Dharmavaram, Raptadu and Puttaparthy Mandals in the district. From Ananthapuram district, Naidu’s Yatra will enter Rayachoti of Kadapa district later in the evening.
Mr Chandrababu Naidu was accompanied by 30 party MLAs and 5 MPs besides hundreds of party activists and local leaders.
As Naidu has taken up this Yatra to highlight the problems of farmers and the prevailing drought conditions at the national level, journalists of the national and state media houses are also accompanying the former chief minister.
Reports in Hyderabad said three media groups left for Puttaparthy this morning in three separate buses from the state capital to cover the Yatra.
