The accused in the illegal mining ore case Mr Gali Janardhan Reddy and his brother in law Mr BV Srinivasa Reddy today filed petitions in the special CBI court in Hyderabad seeking special prisoner status.
The court adjourned till day after tomorrow hearing on the two petitions filed by their counsel immediately after their judicial custody was extended till Nov 14.
The duo sought a direction from the court to the jail authorities to shift them to special rooms considering their status in the society and their health condition. “We pray the court to direct the authorities to keep us in A category cells in tune with our standing in the society,” they requested the court in their petition.
Counsel for the accused informed the court they had given a copy of the petition to the CBI officials also. The judge Mr Nagamaruthi Sarma then directed the counsel to hand over a copy of the petition to the officials of the Chanchalguda jail where the accused are lodged after their arrest on Sep 5.
Earlier, the court extended the judicial remand of the mining mafia don Mr Gali Janardhan reddy and his brother-in-law Mr BV Srinivasa Reddy till Nov 14 in the illegal mining case.
