Mr VV Lakshminarayana, joint director of the CBI, said today that the investigation into the illegal mining case registered against the mining mafia don Mr Gali Janardhan reddy has reached final stages.
Speaking to reporters in Nellore, he said they would soon prepare charge sheet against him in the case to be submitted to the court.
Meanwhile, the CBI team which arrived in Nellore early this morning had conducted searches in the Krishnapatnam port and the excise and customs offices in Nellore. Obulapuram Mining Company (OMC) of the jailed Gali Janardhan reddy said it has exported 1.11 Cr tonnes of iron ore from the Krishnapatnam port but CBI officials believe more quantities were exported illegally.
Lakshminarayana said they would inquire into the reported violation of the export rules and regulations by the Gali Company by going deep into the system adopted by it for exporting iron ore. He said they had found out that iron ore from other mining companies was also exported from the Krishnapatnam port and those issues also would be thoroughly investigated.
