Taking the tempo of Telangana agitation to new heights, 37 ruling Congress MLAs and MLCs including four ministers, and 33 TDP MLAs of the Telangana region today submitted their resignations to the Deputy Speaker Mallu Bhatti Vikramarka.
Reports said out of the 37 congress members who have put in their papers,25 were MLAs and the rest were MLCs.
Taking the lead, the TDP members first submitted the papers to the Deputy Speaker even before the congress MLAs arrived in the assembly premises.They earlier announced they would hand over their quit letters after the congress members submit their resignations.
The Telangana congress MPs, who are in Delhi to submit their resignations to the Lok Sabha Speaker Meira Kumar, did not keep their schedule. They have taken an appointment with her at 11 am but she left her chambers as the seven T Congress MPs did not turn up at the appointed time.
The four ministers who have also submitted resignations are K. Jana Reddy, J. Geeta Reddy, Ponnala Lakshmaiah and Komatireddy Venkat Reddy.
The 37 congress MLAs, out of a total of 50 in the Telangana region, submitted their resignations to Assembly Deputy Speaker at 12 noon in his chambers.
Among the 33 TDP MLAs of the T region, 28 of them have handed over their resignations to the deputy speaker while five other TDP MLAs have sent their quit letters through fax from the USA.
