Fueling speculation that he was favourable for forming the separate state of Telangana dividing the state of AP, congress general secretary Rahul Gandhi today reportedly asked the chief minister Kirankumar reddy to spell out the reasons for opposition in some political quarters for carving out the Telangana state.
Rahul brought up the issue with Kiran during his meeting with the latter in Delhi and extracted information on the pro-Telangana and pro-United state agitations. Kiran had a hectic schedule in Delhi but he was able to spare time for Rahul Gandhi who wanted to discuss the T issue with him.
This is Rahul Gndhi’s first ever meeting with a chief minister of a state in his capacity as the party general secretary.
Rahul Gandhi went on record once by expressing his support to the division of UP. “The state of Uttara Pradesh will develop if it is divided into three parts,” he remarked in a meeting indicating that he was favourable to smaller states. After he made these comments, everyone thought that he was also favorable for division of AP and for formation of T state.
He once called 8 MLAs of the Telangana region to his office and gave them a questionnaire seeking their answers.
