The Election Commission of India has approved the merger of the PRP with congress party and sent the related papers to Mr. Bhanvarlal, the chief electoral officer of the state.
Disclosing this to media persons in Delhi today, PRP leader Mr C. Ramachandraiah said they will collect the papers from the chief electoral officer of the state and submit them to the Speaker of the Assembly Mr. Nadendla Manohar.
“The merger of the PRP with the congress is over and the only remaining formality in this connection is submission of the documents to the Speaker,” he said.
With the merger process officially over, the PRP MLAs will now be treated as the congress party MLAs for all practical purposes and they have to obey the congress whip on all assembly issues henceforth.
In the cabinet reshuffle proposed to be undertaken in a day or two by the chief minister Kirankumar reddy, three or four berths would be allotted to the PRP, according to sources.
