Stage set for Samadhi of Sai Baba

Kulwant-HallThe Satya Sai Central Trust authorities have made all arrangements to lay to rest the mortal remains of the world renowned Indian spiritual master Sri Satya Sai Baba at 10.30 am at the Kulwant Hall in the Prashanthy Nilayam at Puttaparthy on Wednesday.

Seva Dal volunteers prepared the Samadhi (grave) of 3 X 7 ft in the Kulwant Hall in which Baba will be put to rest eternally. The Samadhi was dug up exactly at the place where Baba used to sit to give darshan and deliver his spiritual discourses daily.

Pure and special silk clothes ( Pattu Vastralu ) and the holy water specially brought from the Ganges, Cauvery, Yamuna, Saraswathi, Godavari, Krishna and other holy rivers are kept ready for the holy bath (Mangala Snalalu) of the God man.

As the final rites will be performed with full state honors and in the traditional Hindu system, a special police band has already arrived in Puttaparthy. Chief Minister Kirankumar Reddy and Governor ESL Narasimhan are personally supervising the arrangements and they will stay at Puttaparthy for the night.

A group of Vedic scholars were brought in from the Avadhoota Peetham of Sri Ganapathi Sachidananda Swamy in Mysore and Shringeri Peetham in Andhra Pradesh. Vedic scholars from Rajahmundry also have come in for conducting the rituals.

300 media persons from the national and international organizations and 60 TV crews have already taken positions to cover the century’s first biggest event in India.

Darsan extended till 11 pm

As lakhs and lakhs of devotees have turned up to take a final look of Sai Baba and pay their last respects, police have extended the Darsan deadline to 11 pm from 6 pm today.

From tomorrow, devotees will have to offer their tributes and respects to the Baba’s Samadhi.
