Puttaparthy has turned into a sea of humanity as lakhs of devotees have been pouring in to the town after hearing the news of the passing away of God-man Sri Satya Sai Baba this morning.
Long queues of devotees were seen extending up to five km since this afternoon and more people have been arriving in the town by special trains and buses from different places in AP and from other parts of the country.
At one point of time at the Prasanthi Nilayam, police had to resort to cane charge the devotees as they tried to gate crash into the Yajurmandiram where the body of the Baba was kept. As the devotees tried to force their entry into the Prasanthi Nilayam, the metal detectors have crumbled down.
Devotees alleged that the police are allowing only VIPs and VVIPs into the Yajurmandiram and not allowing the ordinary devotees who had arrived form long distance places in the state.
