After ensuring the merger of the mega star Chiranjeevi-led PRP with the congress to strengthen the party base in the Seema Andhra area, party president Sonia Gandhi has reportedly begun paying attention to the Telangana issue.

Sonia seems to be working towards ensuring the merger with congress of the TRS led by KCR based on his earlier statement that he had no objection to merge his party with the congress if it agreed to the formation of the Telangana state.

As part of the initiative in this regard, Home Minister P. Chidambaram discussed the Telangana issue with Sonia Gandhi this evening along with her political secretary Ahmad Patel. Congress high command has decided to aim at two birds at a shot and is on the verge of finding a solution to the Telangana issue and strengthening the congress in the Telangana region simultaneously.

In addition to KCR, congress leaders of the Telangana region are also demanding the introduction of Telangana Bill in the budge session of Parliament and the congress leadership is undoubtedly under tremendous pressure at the moment on the issue of Telangana.

Whether KCR will accept the merger proposal of the congress leadership after declaring separate state of Telangana or even before that is any body’s guess now.
