Right after the astounding win in the May General Elections, BJP seems to be losing its sheen as the by-election results that were declared are not so impressive for the ruling party. In a mere shock, BJP could not even win half seats that it contested. In Uttar Pradesh and Rajasthan, where BJP literally swept in the Lok Sabha polls, is thrown to the corners by the results.
In Uttar Pradesh the ruling Samajwadi Party has won eight of the 11 assembly seats for which by-elections were held and BJP has won the three remaining seats. Ten seats were held by the BJP legislators as they got promoted to Lok Sabha. In Rajasthan too, Congress has won three out of the four Assembly seats while BJP had adjust with only one. This is a huge setback from Vasundara Raje government.
For the BJP, these results are disappointing and it should come out with different strategies as Maharashtra and Haryana Assembly elections are slated next month. In Maharashtra, Congress party is still strong and is looking to come to power for the fourth successive time.
