In a bid to end the boycott on Bharatiya Janata Party Prime Ministerial candidate Narendra Modi, the US ambassador has confirmed meeting with him later this month. Last week US ambassador Nancy Powell asked and received permission from South Block to meet the Gujarat chief minister however the date of the meeting is yet to be finalized.
The Bilateral relations between the two countries are likely going to be the key factors in this meeting said the US embassy sources. In 2002, Washington imposed ban on Modi for his role in the Gujarat riots and in the year 2005 Modi was denied diplomatic visa too. UK was the first country to pull out the ban and later European Nations followed by US also said last month that Modi is free enough to apply for visa.
